People celebrated the holidays around the world with visits from Santa, parades – and plenty of Christmas lights.
In Canada, a British Columbia city turned its streets into a Christmas wonderland in support of the local Salvation Army.
A herd of elephants in Santa Claus costumes brought gifts of face masks and hand sanitizer to school students in central Thailand on Christmas Eve.
In the U.S., Christmas ships took part in a holiday parade along the water in Washington State, and there were even more lights to enjoy as a Massachusetts man put on a show for the 18th year.
Smaller gatherings than usual took place in Manger Square in Bethlehem due to COVID-19 restrictions and concerns about the Omicron variant. Those who attended gathered around the Square’s giant tree, topped with a bright red star, where marching bands played music ahead of the patriarch’s arrival.
