China’s northwestern city of Xian has conducted a mass disinfection operation and more rounds of coronavirus testing as Covid-19 cases continue to surge. Live-streamed video showed people in full protective gear spraying disinfectant on public roads, in the underground rail system, entrances to government buildings and into the air on December 26, 2021. The following day, a fourth round of mass testing got under way as further lockdown restrictions were put in place in the city of 13 million people.
