THIS is the shocking moment a lion attacked a zoo keeper in Senegal and almost bites his hand off.
Footage has resurfaced of a man at Park Hann, a zoo in Dakar, Senegal, sticking his hand through the bars of the lion’s cage in an attempt to pet the wild animal.
The lion patiently anticipates the keeper’s movements before quickly clamping his jaws around his hand.
In the video, the man can be seen screaming as he attempts to pull away from the beast’s menacing grip.
Visitors are heard panicking in the background and some throw stones at the lion in an effort to free them man.
After having his hand trapped in the lion’s mouth for at least 25 seconds, the man hits the animal on the head, with the lion releasing his hand.
The man leans over the security barrier in relief, with his hand and arm still intact but dripping with blood.
According to local reports, the man named as Abdoulaye Wade, works in the zoo and other videos show him provoking the lion before the attack.
The man crossed the barrier to get close to the cage and apparently slid his arm through the bars to touch the animal to impress the tourists.
What followed was ‘a dangerous game of cat and mouse’, where the lion tried to grab his arm and the man tried to hit him with his palm.
Eventually the lion grabbed the man’s hand resulting in the shocking incident captured on camera.
The lion attack took place on February 23, 2020, and the video has since been circulating widely on social media.
Recently, a man at a Jamaican zoo similarly tried to dance with the devil and ended up having his fingers bitten off by a lion at a zoo.
Video footage showed the zoo keeper screaming after he stuck his hand into the lion’s cage in front of horrified visitors.
Bracing himself with his foot against the concrete block part of the enclosure, he then pulls back – seemingly severing his finger.
