The United States and Taiwan have launched talks aimed at deepening their trade ties as Washington vies to bolster its influence in the region to counter China.
The process, labeled the U.S.-Taiwan Initiative on 21st-Century Trade, follows an agreement U.S. President Joe Biden announced last week with 12 Asian economies, which excluded Taiwan.
