Idemitsu Kosan said Tuesday it will shut down an oil refinery in Sanyoonoda, Yamaguchi Prefecture, by March 2024 amid expectations of falling petroleum product demand.
The Japanese company said demand for gasoline and other oil products is expected to decline further in the country amid growing decarbonization efforts and the country’s falling population.
