Honda Motorcycle, the two-wheeler department of the Motor Company, started its production in 1955. Currently the largest motorcycle maker in Japan, in India, Motorcycle is the second largest two-wheeler maker.
Honda Motorcycle has a wide range of two-wheelers; the range consists of scooters, commuter motorcycles, sports bikes and performance oriented high-end motorcycles.
Honda entered into Indian market in 1999. Honda Activa was the first scooter in the line to be launched. Honda Activa is the first unisex variomatic scooter in the country. This scooter not only appealed to the fairer sex, but also to the male population. After the Activa, came the Honda Dio and Eterno which were launched in quick succession. Honda’s first step into motorcycle segment was with Honda Unicorn.
After a long-term partnership with Hero groups, Honda Motors decided to end the agreement and launch its own products in India. Honda expanded its range in the 100 cc/110 cc segment with the Dream Series that has helped them in achieving the numbers.
The Shine series motorcycle is already crowned as the world’s largest selling 125 cc bike. Honda CB Shine was launched in 2006 and carries an Ergo Tec design. It is claimed to be one of the most successful bikes from this company not only in India, but on a global front.
The Honda CB Trigger, a 150 cc commuter bike, was launched in 2013 to replace the Unicorn Sizzler. The Honda CB Trigger has attractive looks, good mileages, and good brake actions.
The CBF Stunner is an entry-level semi-faired bike from Honda India. The bike has been part of Honda’s line up since many years and is the best looking 125 cc bike in India.
The Dream series was launched by Honda Motors mainly to attract the city commuters. Their bikes the Dream Yuga and the Dream Neo are very popular among the Indian commuters because of their low prices and built quality. The Honda CD 110 Dream is the cheapest Honda bike available in India.
Currently product portfolio includes many imported motorcycles like VFR 1200 F, CBR 1000 RR, CB 1000 R, CBR 250 R. If you are ready to shell out money, there is the Honda CBR 150 which is available for Rs. 1.20 lakh and Honda CBR 250R available at a price tag of Rs 1.65 lakhs. Honda CBR 150 R returns a mileage of 45 kmpl in highway and 32 kmpl in city from its fuel efficient engine.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has three manufacturing plants in India. The first Motorcycle factory in India is situated in Manesar, Haryana. The second Motorcycle plant is situated in Tapukara Industrial Area of Rajasthan. The third Motorcycle plant in India is situated in Narsapura, Karnataka.
