TOKYO, June 10 (Xinhua) — Japan won their second World Cup warmup match in eight days after beating Ghana 4-1 in Kobe on Friday.
The east Asian side, who defeated Paraguay 4-1 on June 2 and lost to Brazil 1-0 three days ago, took control from the start over their fellow World Cup qualifiers.
Left back Miki Yamane put the hosts ahead in the 29th minute before Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew leveled the score in the 44th on a mistake from Yamane.
Kaoru Mitoma regained Japan’s lead in injury time of the first half and then crossed for Real Madrid youngster Takefusa Kubo for a third in the second half.
Late substitute Daizen Maeda sealed the victory in the 82nd minute.
Japan will next play Tunisia for the title of the annual Kirin Cup in Osaka on Tuesday. Ghana and Chile will fight for third place.
Tunisia beat Chile 2-0 in the day’s other match thanks to goals from Ali Elabdi and Issam Jebali.
